Layers for long hair?

I have long hair thats about 5 inches past my shoulders and Im growing it down to my elbows. I have a friend who had hair that long and she cut it to like, 2 inches shorter than mine and it looks sooo pretty. Its straight but she has layers like 1 inch from the ends that slightly curl under. I want to get my hair cut with layers like hers but I want to keep my length. Any pictures to take to the stylist would be great, like a girl/celebrity with hair like I described. Miranda Kerr maybe (with straight hair) or anyone else. Thanks! (:
