My wife's hair is very well long past her hips. It's becomming unmanagable for her. Can I start trimming her hair at home at a regular interval to keep it managable. Any suggestion for the home cut.

well yeah if ur just gonna trim it a lottle shorter, thats what i do with my own hair when i have really bad split ends. just have it down her back and use good haircutting scizors(i have no idea how to spell that, isnt it sad) and just snip snip snip and make sure its all the same length. But if ur gonna do anything more complicated, you should either go to a professional or learn to cut hair.

Comb wet hair straight down.. tell your wife to keep her head straight and cut from middle to left and then from middle to right.. if some parts are longer than others, go back and make it even.

That was suggested to me once and it doesn't look good on very long hair-comb straight through the hair from underneath tilt the comb slightly toward you keeping it straight in the hair -basically what you're trying to do is to cut the outside layer just slightly longer than the inside layer-just make sure to cut a straight line or a smile shape

why not if she allows you to do it and you dont butcher her hair I believe it would be quite a blessing. Now you just need to make sure you know how to cut hair, try trimming it taking little sections and cutting them the same size 1/4 an inch and you could do this for weeks until the hair is decent.
