Does long hair promote psoriasis?

I like the longer beach hair cut but i have psoriasis on my scalp. Only a little on my face. Mostly on my scalp. My father has it on his body and he says that if I cut my hair it would go away some. I just cant see how this would help. I am well aware of psoriasis and how it effects people but nowhere can i find the answer to my question so maybe the trusty people of yahoo questions can help. :) Any other advice on how to keep it under controll would be extravagant!

What in the world does the length of hair have ANYTHING to do with skin? What you PUT on your hair can disrupt the skin, what you wash your hair with, and how often you wash it since everything you put into your hair touches your scalp. Definitely not good information coming from your Dad.

A suggestion for your scalp would be to use a psoriasis shampoo which can be found over the counter. When you go to put anything on your hair for styling be careful not to massage it into the scalp, and if you color your hair try not to get the color completely on your scalp because whoa that hurts mine! But keep your hair long and lovely as you like it.

where did you dad get his information? NO LONG HAIR DOES NOT PROMOTE PSORIASIS! it is a skin condition and hair is not skin! get to a dermatologist and get the right medication for it! some time dads do not know the right answer, go ask mom! psoriasis is not contagious either!

Does long hair promote psoriasis?

Hello there. I thought that cutting my hair short did help my psor. somewhat; Can't be sure it did though. What did help was the herbal cream and spray from Champori.com I haven't had a relapse for 15 months now after only 2.5 weeks of treatment (besides scalp I had my knees and elbows affected; and they are all clear now).

Best,

Bernadette
