Long hair versus short hair,which do you prefer?

I have long straight healthy hair,(no split ends) I mention this because some people have long damaged hair which is unbecoming...if your going to have long hair I think it should be healthy...(anyway)...

my question is in general,do you prefer long hair or short ? I am thinking of cutting my hair a blunt cut right at my shoulders...right now it's a little past my bra...about an inch past...

on my avatar you can get an idea of how my hair long looks...

thanks for the opinions,I don't want to chop it off and regret it...

I trimmed mine to right in the middle of my bra..it was in the middle of my back....it's much lighter and easier to style. I couldn't cut it past my shoulders though, I would miss it too much.

I agree about the unhealthy, nappy long hair being bad. I finally got a friend of mine to cut hers to a healthy length and start over with regular trims. It looks so much better!!

I'm a guy and I love girls with short hair. About ear length. Long hair just gets in the way. Seriously, try putting an arm around a girl, or rubbing her back and winding up with a hand caught in her hair. I definitely like short hair.

i love girls with shorter hair. long hair is considered as beauty but in my opinion shoter hair is something that isnt explored due to it takes a while to grow and could make you from a goddess to a bum. a while ago at my school, girl had there hair shortened for cancer fundraiser. it was a real i opener, and most of the girls looked more attractive, but as i see long hair gets own your nerve but you dont want to cut it. so i say go for some japanese/asian buns with the chopsticks in the back holding it. its a very nice look.

Is it safe for black women sporting short hair cuts to get their hair relaxed every two weeks?

For a woman wearing long hair, she gets her hair relaxed every 6-8 weeks. My friend tells me that every time she gets her hair done, (every two weeks), no matter who does it, she always gets it relaxed yet again. I fear that this may damage her hair completely. Any Black hair stylists out there??? Thanks!

She will be bald, burnt, and scabbed up in the next month or so if not sooner... That's just plain crazy.. It's bad enough to relax at all and risk damage..

6 - 8 weeks is the norm.. but every 2 weeks... i'm laughing.. Her stylist has her fooled into taking all her money.. it costs so much more to relax than to just wash/blow/curl.. She must be forking over 60 - 80 every 2 weeks..

The relaxer/touchup is for getting the new growth straight.. what new growth can she POSSIBLY have in 2 weeks.. Hair does not even grow that fast that she has new hair in 2 weeks that needs to be relaxed..

She's krazy...

no!!!!!!!!! dude her hair is gonna get major damage im not a stylists but im around people that do hair and they wouldnt advise it. but if ur friend is going to a shop to get it done then it might be okay cuz shops don't relax the hair all the way and they its okay every 2 weeks cuz thats how they get paid . but i would tell her to stop cuz its straining her hair way to much

Tell her don't do it. Her hair is bound to fall out. If her hair grows super fast and she needs a perm every two weeks then that is okay. Black hair is way different from white hair. Our hair can dry out at the drop of a pin. If she gets it permed every two weeks, she is not giving her hair enough time to grow. She is perming it at the first sign of new growth. I can understand not wanting new growth but just get a hair style that moves around your new growth. Like flat ironing it or pinning it up. Luck.

Honestly, different men, look better with different styles. I personally think the caesar style is out-dated and cheesy. The big and long hair thing went out in the 80's. Short and messy and fades are hot!! Bald to me, is hotter! Of coarse that with the whole bad-*** tattoo-armed look. Yet, some people can't pull it off, especially if you got a white head lol!

1. The haircut should work with your face.

2. If you can keep a long hair cut neat and all, do so. It you can't, keep it short.

3. Bald is never good.

4. Long hair should never be cut with a style. It'll look to feminine.

There are several advantages to short hair for guys:

1) It's VERY easy to maintain. I haven't so much as bought a bottle of shampoo in more than ten years.

2) No bed-head.

3) It looks more conservative, which can help you get a job or advance in your career, depending on what you do. It's unfortunate, but people do judge a book by its cover!

4) Depending on the kind of work you do, long hair might be a safety or health issue.

5) If you get it cut you could probably donate it to locks of love or a similar organization.

The disadvantages:

1) You'll need a haircut more often. I get mine done every two weeks. Find an old fashioned barber for best results. Or get your wife/girlfriend/friend to do it with a set of clippers--it's not hard.

2) People use their hair to make personal statements. You may be ready for a change in what strangers and acquaintances think about you, but that can be bad as well as good, depending on the kind of friends you have. Remember, people judge a book by its cover!

3) Get a hat--it gets cold in winter!

4) If you don't like it it will take a LONG time to grow back.

On balance, I've had a high and tight since I was in the Army ten years ago, and I love it. I think it looks good and is easy to take care of. Before that I had medium long hair which I really didn't like. Best thing about having it short is how much simpler and easy it is to look after.

If you've never had it short before, I'd say give it a try and see if you like it.

I would start with getting it cut about 5 to 6 inches and getting some layers put in it for volume. You can always go shorter later if you like. A few highlights especially around your face would brighten it up a lot. Good Luck!

I just cut mine to my shoulders and it was a much needed change! It got rid of a lot of dry, damaged hair and it's very hot where I live so it's not always sticking to the back of my neck. I can wear it down more often AND it takes less time to style.

at first I got upset about cutting it all off. But I ended up liking it, and it was alot easier to manage. I think you should get your hair cut. The thing is, hair grows back.

haha yeah i had pretty long hair before, and i cut it about a month ago. it's shoulder length, but won't go up in a ponytail because it's layered quite a lot (from the top of my ear to my shoulder). the haircut isn't all that bad, except i was used to having my hair up x]. you'll probably be okay with chin length hair. dress it up with clips and headbands though =] good luck!

If the hair is barely touching the top of your shoulders, it will go in a ponytail. If you have layers, some of the shorter pieces will fall out, but that looks cute anyway!

What in the world does the length of hair have ANYTHING to do with skin? What you PUT on your hair can disrupt the skin, what you wash your hair with, and how often you wash it since everything you put into your hair touches your scalp. Definitely not good information coming from your Dad.

A suggestion for your scalp would be to use a psoriasis shampoo which can be found over the counter. When you go to put anything on your hair for styling be careful not to massage it into the scalp, and if you color your hair try not to get the color completely on your scalp because whoa that hurts mine! But keep your hair long and lovely as you like it.

If it's all one length and just hanging there, frizzy, with split ends, then it's time to cut it. I hate to tell you this but all you can do is let it grow out...and that is even more killer!

Find yourself a good stylist; someone that specializes in hair coloring. All you can really do is get highlights put in to minimize the effect of root-grow-out.

It is going to be hard on your hair because they are really going to have to lift it. Depending on the texture of your hair and how healthy it is...or isnt...is going to make a tremendous difference in the end result.

My stylist and I just had this conversation about my hair; I am at this point about 70% grey. I am a slave to my maintainence; planning vacations, and events around my roots.

I know that it sounds vain and incredibly shallow...but, it is the only way that I really monkey with my appearance.

My hair is redish brown and once i wanted to dye it blonde and my hair styler told me red pigments need to be bleached because a light color wouldnt last so, I guess u should get ur hair bleach and then apply gray color but after u do it make sure u use some products as Super-Charged Moisturizer by Paul Mitchell or you can prepare your own hair treatment specially if ur hair is damaged or dry

1 cup mayonnaise (room tempeture if possible, like from a jar of brand new mayo just off the grocery store shelf)

1/2 cup olive oil

3 egg yolks

Blend all ingredients together in a bowl.

If possible use room tempeture mayo - if not, let mixture warm up to room tempeture*. **If you are in a rush and just can't wait - microwave the mayo for 15 seconds - but be careful - if you nuke it too long it begins to separate**.

Apply thourghly through your hair adding extra at the ends.

Pile on top of your head and cover with a plastic shower cap and then cover with a towel to keep in the heat from your head.

Leave on for at least 10-20 minutes and then rinse out.

Should make 1 to 2 hair treatments depending on the length of your hair.

If you don't want to save the left over for another treatment use whatever is left over as a moisturizing face mask. Also can be used on dry elbow and knees(for best results, this should be used immediately after making and not saved. It will still work, but won't be as effective as when it's fresh).

Do NOT shampoo afterwards, just rinse it really well. Do this on a day when you are not going to go out. Any oil that clings to your hair after you rinse it out, will continue to condition your hair until the next time you shampoo it out.

for best hair conditioning purposes, use immediately after making without refridgerating first. The reason is, the fats and oil will penetrate your hair follicles better if it is not cold. Tip to remember for all hair care: Warm/Hot opens the hair follicles so that conditioner can penetrate deeper. And cold water closes the hair follicles. So after you shower your hair, after you rinse every thing out, rinse again with a blast of very cold water. The coldest you can possibly stand. This cold water blast will also make your hair super shiny!

You understand clip ons BLEND into long hair. U need to get reaaaal extensions. Real extensions are expensive but if you really care you should do that. btw, it's only normal for a guy to have short hair :P so mabye you should let it grow

Get some fringe bangs. They are becoming a big thing among the celebs and it would look great on you. Maybe get it cut just below your shoulders too.
