my mom was of the belief that women over 30 should not have long hair. she said it made them look old and unkempt. i personally disagree. i think as long as it is well maintained and flattering that long hair is pretty. i cut my hair short when my children were babies, because it was too much work to keep it styled with infants, and they liked to pull it. but as soon as they were a few years old i started growing it out again. it was almost half way down my back last summer, and my hair is extremely thick. it got to 100 degrees for almost a week where i live and i went and cut my hair off short tho help beat the heat, i have regretted it since the heat wave broke.

P.S. I have not heard of cutting your hair because you turned 30.

P.P.S. It also matters whether you have split ends or not as soon as i get a bunch of split ends i cut it shorter, it keeps my hair healthier.

I don't think there is a particular age for cutting off long hair, more important is does it still look as attractive (healthy and well kept) as it did when a person was younger.
