Can cutting your hair real short if it was long shock your hair?

I am a guy and my hair was down to my shoulder blades until I cut it off in the back with scissors. I have recently read up on hair "shock" with people who have had surgery. Is it possible for your hair to go into shock if you cut it real short if it was long before? I regret cutting it off and am worried it won't grow back. Info. appreciated.

When some one has surgery and their hair falls out some it is from the anesthesia. It also reeks havoc with your skin and nails. Relax your hair will grow back that's why I still have a job. Hair grows about 1/2 an inch every six weeks. The shock is yours have someone clean up the back of your hair
